Four Columns Inn ( Sherburn )
Four Columns Inn sits atop a knoll overlooking what was once the Winnebage - Jackson Stage Road. Originally built in 1884 by George Rhode, the seven-bedroom inn served stage travelers, many of whom sought out the area's excellent hunting and fishing. A lovingly restored Minnesota farm home, Four Columns Inn offers romantic, country strolls and a good night's rest. For generations, people have enjoyed Victorian-Country hospitality. The Kittlesons have taken this traditional lodging favorite, updated it, and added Victorian touches with antiques, laces, stained glass, and etched glass windows.
The spacious living room, which includes a library and a grand piano, invites you to relax. The focal point of the room is a charming handcrafted circular staircase leading to the five guest accommodations, each with private bath, on the second and third floors. A mural of the Orton Plantation in Wilmington, North Carolina creates a background for the grand piano. The front of the Orton Plantation was the inspiration for the present design of Four Columns Inn.
Whether you come to Four Columns Inn with loved ones or alone, for a weekend or a night, you will find the Inn a peaceful respite from your everyday schedule.
You will enjoy your country homemade breakfast by candlelight at the round oak table in front of the brick fireplace in the Great Room. Or if you wish, you can have your meal served in the 19th-century style Victorian Gazebo located on the lawn of the Inn.
