The Red Gables Inn, built in 1865, is an intimate bed and breakfast that captures the romantic spirit of a bygone era. Our Mississippi River Victorian is just a short stroll to the shoreline of beautiful Lake Pepin and our 2 1/2 mile River Walk. You will enjoy exploring the picturesque town of Lake City, the birthplace of Water Skiing, and home of the largest small boat marina on the Mississippi.

The Red Gables Inn is located in the beautiful Mississippi River town of Lake City, one of the vintage villages nestled in the limestone bluffs surrounding Lake Pepin in Southeastern Minnesota. Lake Pepin was formed by sediment deposited at the confluence of the Chippewa River and Mississippi at Read's Landing causing the river waters to expand to over 2 1/2 Miles wide and 22 Miles long. Surrounded by soaring limestone bluffs that provide ample breezes throughout the summer months, makes this lake one of the best sailing lakes in the Midwest. Many Sailing Regattas are scheduled throughout the summer months. Ice sailing and snowmobile clubs, as well as, cross country skiers take advantage of the frozen lake in winter months.
